Jul 2 2012, 10:25 PM EDT | Post edited: Jul 2 2012, 10:25 PM EDT
ive heard about him for about a year now and ive never belived in him. but today when i was watching pewdiepie play a slender man game ive decided to look him up. after seeing the symptoms my computer started bugging around, youtube whould quickly pause then play then pause again then it started scrolling up and down. i still don belive in him but ive got a feeling that someone is watching me. i think it is my mind playing tricks on me and i might be paranoid. what should i do? 8  out of 11 found this valuable. Just believe, but don't go paranoid. Just think he is there, but don't be scared. Just know he is watching you, but don't be frightened.
Let him talk to you in your mind, keep him calm. He only wants to be a friend and will only punish those who do not.

He is not real, its just a folklore and legends. Same as werewolves and vampires. They are not real now are they? I promise you he is not real 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

It's your mind playing tricks on you. I also came from after watching the Pewdiepie video, and similar to you, I had a friend that also had a certain paranoid feeling about being possessed, where several symptoms stated, he found himself having.

It only took a day or two to wear off and now what he thought back then is as if it doesn't exist.

Simple explanation -> When reading something "creepy" or something that makes you reluctant to take a step back and ask "What IF?", it's extremely common for said person to get pulled into paranoia and fear because something similar to what is written as a symptom happens.

Even if the symptoms are something that could happen daily or just for random reasons... Like this one here.

But I'd say, don't sweat it. Nothing will happen.

Punish those who don't want to be his friend? That doesn't sound very friendly to me.
Oddly enough after first viewing the official slender man thread, the next morning my microwave broke, and then a few moments later a electronic thermometer turned on for no reason a few feat away. Then I read more about him and I find out he could potentially mess up electronics.
And then what ever it was started to invade my mind, and I was able get rid of it.
When I fought it in my mind I made lots of mental clones of myself (before attacking), and all that were injured from the battle seemed to be infected with something.

It could have just been insanity, it could have been the slender man.
Either way I would recommend not giving into fear, Maybe try to cleanse your mind somehow. Just don/'t go into mental combat against it, unless it is truly necessary.
Also, there are some rumors that the Tulpa Effect (basically enough people believing made it reality) created the slender man.
Some others claim the being gets stronger the more believe it,
And then there are the ones that say it has always been here, and the tulpa effect has no effect on it)

This was me,

And yeah, like the person above me posted, the best thing to do is not fear it and just ignore it if at all possible. And if it goes away, then that's good.
