Mythical creature?
Jun 1 2012, 5:39 AM EDT
Do... prophets count as mythical creatures? They're humans after all.Besides even history books generally agree that Jesus existed, at the very least. This is kind of like calling George Washington a mythical creature and giving him an article... (perhaps using stories of his leadership as proof that he has super powers.) 8 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

He's more of a mythical person. But if him being real is the case then he's just a legendary prophet.I guess somebody had to create Christianity and convince thousands or millions convince to convert to it.

Paul created Christianity as we know it, there was a Jesus movement prior to Paul but this Jesus was more of an ideal the perfect man that members chose to emulate. No historian claims to verify that Jesus really existed; all historians and true Bible Scholars state that he is a historical character in the fact that he impacted history, but they all agree that to prove that there ever was a man named Jesus who actually played out the role in reality is impossible. The Fact is Jesus is the ideal man/god created by many thinkers and philosophers over 2000 years and continues to evolve to this day. Each of his followers creates and ideal image of him in his own mind and each person even those influenced by their priests and preachers have a unique perspective of him that is different, in some cases subtle differences from any other persons concept of him. "Each of his followers creates and ideal image of him in his own mind and each person even those influenced by their priests and preachers have a unique perspective of him that is different, in some cases subtle differences from any other persons concept of him.I do not understand. Doesn't everyone have a unique perception of pretty much every person in existence? There are probably people who would tell you that Hitler was merely mislead, while others may think he is the anti-christ, or a horrible insane criminal. People having different opinions of a person doesn't make them mythical. How does everyone having a different perception of him change anything? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

its impossible to prove he existed because he Rose from the Dead and Ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the Right Hand of The Father and he will come again to Judge the Living and the Dead and his Kingdome will have no end

"its impossible to prove he existed because he Rose from the Dead and Ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the Right Hand of The Father and he will come again to Judge the Living and the Dead and his Kingdome will have no end"At school (regular, non-christian, public school) we were taught that he existed and was a religious teacher but that when he died he was said to have rose again. Thus I thought most people (or historians) believed he existed as a human teacher but that the argument came when people discussed rather or not he was who he claimed to be. (Which would be as you said. God incarnate) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Jesus is not a prophet He's the Son of The Lord God"Isn't he both? Dictionary.com says a prophet is: "a person who speaks for God or a deity, or by divine inspiration." So he is technically a prophet. He performed miracles but so did Moses, and most would not claim he is a mythical creature. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Isn't he both? Dictionary.com says a prophet is: "a person who speaks for God or a deity, or by divine inspiration."No 1. hes way more powerful than a prophet and 2. He is the Son of the Lord God which puts him above all other prophets ever to exist and 3. He didnt preach the Word of God he Lived out his Life as The Lord Gods Son and lived according to God and performed Miracles and Healed the Sickk.... We are all Mythical Creatures because The Lord God is our Creator and we were made from Dust (Adam was made from the Dust of the Earth and Eve was made from 1 of Adams Rib) so when we die we will become a part of the world again as our original Form which was Dust Do you find this valuable? |

"And Jesus had Followers... The 12 Apostles and his Disciples"I'm not arguing that He is greater then a normal prophet. I'm arguing that He isn't really a mythical creature. Using dictionary.com again, a mythical creature is "a monster renowned in folklore and myth" and, son of God or no, He isn't really any sort of monster. He is God in human flesh. There are no super natural properties about his flesh itself except apparent healing powers. .But even that doesn't seem to be flesh based it seems to be spirit based, as his Disciples gained the ability too when visited by the holy spirit. Even if you stretch the word monster to include particularly menacing humans, Jesus himself doesn't really do anything menacing. The most violent He ever becomes is when He chases some salesmen out of a temple, hardly monster quality material. Do you find this valuable? |
