UFO in California

I remember one time when I was a very small girl, probably around five to seven, somewhere there, I saw my first and only UFO. I was out on the porch with my grandma, and it was nighttime. She was having her nightly smoke, and I was petting her dog and keeping her company. I saw something up in the sky and looked up, thinking it was a typical plane or helicopter. However, the shape wasn't anything like either of those. It was shaped like a side-ways teardrop, and the colour was very pale orange. My grandma spoke to me, asking " What is that?" to which I responded that I didn't know. We watched the strange object slowly advance across the sky, until it finally disappeared when it went behind the treeline. The next day, it was in the newspapers, and no one knew what it was! That got me interested in UFOs and other, unexplainable phenomena. I still don't know what I saw, I just know it was awesome.
