Was the riddle not:
"I walk on 4 legs in the morning, 2 at midday, and 3 at night. What am I?"
The answer then was:
I
I
I
I
I
MAN!

You're wrong, the answer WAS man, either way, both answers are the same.

I'm pretty sure English translation of the riddle is:
What animal is that which in the morning goes on four feet, at noon on two, and in the evening upon three?
With the answer being:
Man who in childhood creeps on hands and knees, in manhood walks erect, and in old age with the aid of a staff.

I believe the term 'man' is used in its general form (as a referral to human-kind), which, although a form of feminism, can in this case be considered as non-denominational.
