Demons are known by many people as evil, malevolent creatures from hell, but anything that you think you know about them is wrong. Demons DO NOT come from hell, and are usually never evil. Demons are usually confused with hellions, which are the minions and beings from hell that normally serve Lucifer, and are extremely evil. They come from they're own world that is parallel to our own, and it is known by a few names such as the Demon or Shadow Realm, and sometimes even the Dark Dimension. Demons come in various forms that you may see in fictional stories and games. Their system is quite simple, and more effective than our own, as there is no government or money to corrupt it. The obtain goods and services through a barter system, or trading operation, which use special merits for doing deeds or trading in goods and/or services. To uphold their system is a king, chosen at the beginning of their world for his structure and ideas, and is still ruling their world today. An armored guard of specially selected demons enforces their very few laws and systems, making it easy to live here without having crime problems. Yes, it is understood that demons from Hell are categorically different from other demons.Though those other demons are far from collaboration between each other, never mind a government. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I... somewhat agree... I see what you are saying, not all demons are "evil". I know of demons, well fallen angels, cast out of heaven or fallen from sinful desires, that seek forgiveness for their actions. Some demons, i suppose, aren't "evil". Like previously said, it also depends on the belief, mythology-- Such as Jewish Mythology vs, Greek or Celtic Mythology, and just the perception of the word "demon". Its a... controversial subject, but I am also glad you brught it up. Im new here, but im mainly here to learn more about Elementals, but they tie to demons (this is something to do with a friends of mine). But, yes, what demons are categorized or seen as, usually evil, but there are suposedly melevolent spirits, not always as evil as dipicted.

Yes. In some myths, demons are not necessarily evil. It's all about what you beleive. I beleive in demons of hell. Do you find this valuable? |

The one I'm thinking off is where an old Jewish demon approached a Rabbi who was down on his luck. The demon had possessed a crazy homeless man to talk. After a discussion the demon offered to help the Rabbi in his fortunes and left. The Rabbi continued on until he reached the next city. The local King had sent out a request for help, for his daughter the princess had fallen ill to possession; nobody could exorcise the demon. The Rabbi of course did so and then was rewarded such. It sounds a tale where the demon has done good, but the demon's motives are never really made clear to me and it reeks of 'deal with the devil' connotations. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

If this is the case and all Demons are 'evil' as such, then why is it that they are more frequent than say Angels or Youkai? Perhaps, that some of the Demons are not evil and do want to help, or that because we see something strange, for instance lets say an Angel come to help, of course the first thing one would think of is the worst case senario and our imagination runs wild screaming "Demon! Demon!". Again, perhaps we have just muddled up the image of an Angel vs a Demon, what if they are of the same appearence and just differ personality wise.
