I hate the term 'extra-terrestrials'. You should call them aliens, because they are alien to this planet. But alien may be derogatory, so it would be safest to refer to their appearance- for instance call an alien which looks like a slug 'slugman', or monkey 'apeman', or P.E. Teacher 'Neanderthal'
