Hi,
I am a scrimshaw collector--native American pieces.
I saw you blog on the Florida sea monster controversy and thought you might want to see a knife handle--perhaps as much as hundred years old. On one face the knife has a distinctive sea bird. And on the other, The monster almost identical to the mock up on the You-tube video or the Gene Sourwine event.
If you have Skype you may view My antique Indian knife handle that shows the Florida beast.
It's very close to the Hist. Ch. mock-up convincing. It is a N. American Indian, elk rib knife handle in scrimshaw. There is a pig-like long face that looks as bony, with sharp teeth a long dorsal spiny ridge and a pretty convincing trident tail.
Have you any idea how to reach the people who are at the center of this controversy?
Please let me know if you'd care to see it or if you might have an idea how to contact Sourwine or Martin de Witt, associate researcher. Also Loren Coleman the crypto- zoologist. I am convinced after careful study that this is a significant artifact--it may have significant value in the discussion..
Cordially,
Sherman Hahs
