there's an old navajo story about twins whos father was the sun. using weapons from their father they killed two large birds that lived on the shiprock formation. these birds carried their prey and dropped them on the rocks to feed their young. after they were killed the two offspring begged for their lives and became the eagle and the owl. the owl represents a warning and the eagle represent good fortune. i think the thunderbird may be the two birds but not sure 7  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?
