No she wasn't. And she is not called the gorgon!!!!! She IS a gorgon. A gorgon is a woman that is said to be half snake and had snake hair. She turns men to stone with her eyes. She wasn't turned into what she is, it's how she was born.

medusa was once a very beautiful woman but one of the female goddesses got jealous (they tend to do that) and turned her into a hideous beast in which no man could set him eyes upon here thus he'd be turned to stone

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO That is not right Meduse lived in the North and wanted to get to the South but athena wouldnt let her ...soo she went and got posiden and they went to Athens temple and stsrted talkin adout how stupid it was for Athena not granting her to move to the south ..so she said that Athena was jus jelous becouse of how purdy she waz and that made athena really mad soo she put a spelll on her that turned her into a GORGON !!!!

Two ways my theory which is probably wrong that she thought she was prettier than Aphrodite and ya and the second one is when Poseiden(i hate him) and a mortal lets say this they were gonna shake the bed in Athena(i hate her even more) palace i think?
