No, they do not die. Banshee's simply proclaim a death is coming. Some say they are only heard by a family member of the one to die.

actually u are half right. Banshees can be heard by others not just the family. your right though you will not die from hearing a banshees scream no matter how god awful it sounds. they attach themselves to an Irish or Scottish family and upon a death in the family that a soon to come they let out this awful scream. Why they do i have no idea. i think it has something to do with letting the family know or something

wasn't there a song of what a banshee's scream resembled to like a screeching of nails on a black board and/or the sound of scraping guitar strings or possibly something near to it?

I have heard both sides of the story, saying that the sound of the scream can kill you, and that they only scream in the presence of death. I've had an experience with a womanly apparition in the woods where I go camping, and I didn't hear her scream, but she matches a banshee description. Not sure.

Maybe she has an attachment to the woods i camp in and sees me as some form of safety. I have another thread where I speak of the other terrifying experience I had in those woods. The activity is extremely high there. Do you find this valuable? |
