Shape shifting bear

Here is a story that my mother recounted to me as true. In the late 1930's, my mother was on a family vacation with her cousin. The were camping in a wilderness area in Canada, far from any town. Her cousin, a beautiful little girl, age 7, was exploring the woods and had been gone a long while. To everyone's horror, she was found in the company of a medium sized brown bear. She appeared to be chatting away with the bear. The bear was nuzzling her hand and the girl was laughing. The family was frozen with fear and didn't want to startle the bear. Eventually, the bear left. The girl was scolded and warned not to wander. Nevertheless, she disappeared again the next day, this time with my mother, also a young child. A boy walked out of the woods who looked to be a young teen. He was dressed in verystrange, old-fashioned clothes, that were yellowed with age. He spoke very formally and with an odd, heavy accent and insisted he lived in the forest, though the area was clearly unsettled. He'd told the girls that he and his family had always lived there, and invited them to come see their home. The cousin declined and insisted to my mother that she was certain he was the bear from the day before! The eyes were identical and she strongly felt they were one and the same. At this point, the angry relatives arrived, and the story was recounted. A search was made for the boy and his home. Neither were found. Until her dying day, the cousin, who grew up to be a very dignified, well-educated lady, insisted that she had met a shape-shifting bear! Has anyone else heard of a story like this? 16 out of 17 found this valuable. Do you? |

if this is actually true, what happened after that ? did she go back and have anymore encounters ?

that is a very interesting story i believe that they do exist along with many other supernatural beings but they would have no other choice but to be very secretive because we would try to kill them why cant we just live in piece.

"that is a very interesting story i believe that they do exist along with many other supernatural beings but they would have no other choice but to be very secretive because we would try to kill them why cant we just live in piece."well most people would find were-bears and were-wolves to be a threat to mankind I'm a teen author and I write books about paranormal things happening that would bring fourth the end of the world and I read that people had encountered what was apparently a Were-Wolf and has attacked them which had triggered a thing where the army got involved and started to hunt it down. I dont know if it was true or not but it inspired me to write and I believe that if it did happen people would have to fight to keep alive from frequent attacks like I read. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
