Copyright?

So, I was reading a book and it was about a woman who was a Skinwalker. I want to write a book about a girl who can turn into an animal, but I don't know what to call her. If I said "Skinwalker" would I be copyrighting the first story? 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

The page that you posted this on lists the concept of a skinwalker as an established folk tradition, so it would be impossible for anyone to copyright it. It would be like saying you couldn't call vampires vampires anymore because of the Twilight books. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
