I think it really existed.

I don't know why people find it so hard to believe that something like a Minotaur could actually exist. I'm not saying some lady had sex with an actual bull, but there is a physical site that we can physically go to, where is 'supposedly' the site of King Minos's trap for the Minotaur. It's not like someone would go through all the trouble to build a labrynth, just so they could tell a fictional story about it. It's not like we could really prove that this thing existed however, because it's a labrynth, and unless someone was willing to search the entire thing without getting lost, and hopefully find some bones or something, there is no other physical evidence, other than a story that has been around through mellenia, and the remanents of the labrynth.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. "It's not like someone would go through all the trouble to build a labrynth, just so they could tell a fictional story about it." That's exactly why they did it. Something grand, built on the whim of a ruler. People have built senseless things because of a fear/craving of supernatural. To say something must've existed because someone built a labyrinth and told a story about it is retarded.
