Black dog is a very loose term both heaven and hell have hounds but there purpose varies greatly, think of this way there has to be a balance without it there is no way to measure the other. Hell hounds are like reapers of the damned they collect corrupted souls and drag them to hell, where as it is believe the hounds of heaven are the ones that protect treasures and giude lost travelers to safty. Hell hounds are a nasty bunch and once on the hunt they never stop, there like demonic pitbulls on steriods, they guard certain things sure and if your curios enough to find out what that is by all means try you best to take one on, just know we dont have the sight to see the shadow world until we are close to death, So your fighting something you cant see and can tear you to shreeds literally. I dont believe hell hounds to be of fire Hell is not fire its so cold there you feel like your on fire. Beast of hell have said to freeze the ground they walk upon not scorch it. hope this helps devils shoelace keeps them at bay alot of drudist use it to keep ritual grounds clear atleast where im from.
