If you would care to outline the differences of these two infused legends then maybe you would have cause to complain. Stating a surface observation, that is well known, solves nothing. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

The differance is that for one a cockatrice is part basilisk and part chicken, and I have never heared of a cockatrice petrifying a person with one glance in any story 4  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

I believe that the difference between a cockatrice and a basilisk is the same difference between a tigon and a liger, it depends on which animal the "mother" is. I do not recall which one is which, sadly. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Wow. It doesn't matter which is the mom & which is the dad. It'll be the same thing eaither way! They are related, but one is mixed with something alittle different. That is the only difference. =^_^= 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

the difference is that the basilisk is purely a reptile. the cockatrice is more like a giant scaly chicken.

cockatrice and basilisks are different basalisks are more reptile in the way they look cockatrice are obviously more chicken like basicly my point is they are 2 different creatures...and basilisks are way cooler :P
medusa also turns things to stone but you can't tie her in just because of 1 thing they have in common.
