this fish was originally recognised by a professor Smith (I believe), off the coast of Madagascar, after studying remains brought up by fishermen in their nets. If I understand correctly, they have also been found off the Seychelles and another group of islands in the Indian Ocean. They are a deep sea fish, which was probably how they have survived for so long, despite the occasional catastrophy that has afflicted the earth in the past. 7  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?
