My insights on 'Vampires'

I belive, myself, that the vampires in the victorian era and back were actually untreated diabeties victums. I have a rather good supporting detail. Back in that era diabetics were considered damned, like the "undead". No cure, no explanatoin for there sudden mood swings, hunger, thirst, and behavior. One example, a young girl with diabeties back in that era was reccorded, furious one moment, passed out the next. Lack of insulin, and food caused this. Next the girl experianced 'dying' or going into a diabetic coma, when she would awake from theese comas, it would appear to thoose of that era that she came back from the dead. Also, from her hunger and thirst her family deprived her of the blood sugar she needed. Not knowing of course, so she went mad. Running away from home and terroising the village, stealing pigs and drinking their blood, which is rich in the sugar she desspratly needed. Her family quickly recoverd her, and hid her from the world. For, in that time. She would pronouced possessed and burned at the stake. Soon, she deteriorated and smelled of sweet honey-sugar from her dangerously high sugar levels, belived to be up in the 2,000's. Though her breath smelled of foul meat and rotten fruit form the infectoin inside of her. She soon went back on her mad streak, this time, killing atleast 10 children. Drinking their blood by ripping their limbs and lapping the blood up, her gums drew back. Giving the impressoin of longer, fang-like teeth. The villagers found her, passed out in a field from rising her sugar levels too high. She was thought to be dead and laid on a pile of dry wood and set afire. As the villagers watched her burn, she awoke and died in agony. But then she was dead. For real this time. The story spread and most diabetic children were killed after 5years. Until people decided to get a good story out of it and made them blood-sucking demons from hell. That is how I belive the story of the modern vampire started. 12  out of 13 found this valuable. You prescribe two conditions as one...Which is it? Diabetes which does not allow sufficient Insuline production to metoblize sugar, which ultimately the body converts from all food....Or the Hypoglycemic condition that manifests from the over production pancreatic insuline stripping the blood of the compound necessary to metabolize sugars into energy to expend during laborious activities. You have an interesting idea here and may have merit....I would be inclined to believe that it would be Hypoglycemia not diabetes...People with Diabetes get lathargic and almost act inebriated and docile, where as the opposite is true of those with Hypoglycemia. In Hypoglycemic attacks create panic and the person knows instinctively they need food and fast and do not allow anything to stop them in their stabalization. If the attack is bad enough I believe one may resort to the drinking of blood for immediate results and if it really is that bad one would do so and sorrow latter, 1  out of 2 found this valuable.
