Indeed, even today he's a very big deity, one which the catholic church incorporated in many English church designs. He is said to be the very life force of the forests and the green world. The most common image of him, is a elderly face, made of bark and wreathed in leaves, he kind of looks like tree beard...sort of.

Wasn't Cernnous (I think thats how its spelled) was the Celtic nature god?

One of them hehehe. Cernunos, i can't remember the exact spelling, was the Lord of beasts, and is often depicted with horns or antlers. He would punish those who slaughtered animals needlessly.
