lenapup77 said that the minotaur was not for king minos. if it wasn't then why would minotaur be greek for 'bull of Minos'? It was king Minos's bull which was fed king Aegeus's people (7 men and 7 women to be exact) Do you find this valuable?

It was the son of the kings wife i believe, who mated with a bull, the bull she mated with was a god, though i can't recall which god. The offspring was the Minotaur, who ate human flesh and was kept in a labyrinth 'neath the city and was fed virgins, untill it was slain. Do you find this valuable?

wrong. the bull was sent out of spite (by either Athena or Poseidon for one reason or another). the spiteful god laced a curse on the Queen, making her fall madly in love with the bull Do you find this valuable?

Poseidon send the bull. It was known as the Blue Bull and was in many Greek Myths and featured Thesus and Hercules. Do you find this valuable?

I was talking about the Minotaur. it is the son of Pasiphae and a Bull, the word Minos means bull. Poseiden sent a bull from the sea as a sacrifice, prayed for by Minos. When his wife saw the creature, she fell in love with it and bore it's children, the Minotaur. Do you find this valuable?

The minotaur is actually responisble for many deaths, by direct or indirect actions. It was Daedalus who built the maze and was imprisoned afterwards. He and his son flew away from the prison on wax wings and as we all know his son was killed during this.

And in a way, the minotaur is Poseidon's grandchild because the Blue Bull was Poseidon's child and the Blue Bull was the father to the Minotaur. Also Poseidon gave Athens the gift of the horse.
So bulls and horses? Guess Poseidon was eyeing for Demter's spot as a farm deity.

Hehehe, not too sure why. being Lord of all the Ocean's is by far, much better than lording it over some chickens and farm lands. I did hear a story, in which Poseiden destroyed Atlantis. I'm not too sure if it is a real part of mytholgoy and folklore, but i heard it nonetheless.

They say the place was intertwined with many water ways. So if he wanted to destroy a place, then Atlantis would have been the place to best destroy. Do you find this valuable?

Why was Atlantis destroyed anyway?

Returned a library book late.

No wait, it was because their society and culture began to contest the gods. They had been allowed it until they suddenly went war like and began attacking other countries. It was after their failed naval attack on Greece that the place disappeared.

Sounds like a poor excuse to wipe out an entire island nation, so really the gods feared their advancing technology and culture? Do you find this valuable?

Zeus just didn't want to be left out, so he tossed some lightning bolts in it's general direction, just so he wasn't upstaged by the guys doing the real work hehehe.
