Rods have been disproven to just be a flicker or some sort of a camera lense hence why its only seen on video. They had a special about it on tv where they did experiments to show what it really was. I think it was on the discovery channel not sure but I watched a year or so back. 5  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

They used two different cameras, one normal video camera, and one ultra-high-speed camera, the nornal camera showed rods, the UHS camera showed insects flying about. Where the rods were in the normal video, there were insects in the UHS video, a direct and exact correlation. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

This has been disproven on many TV shows, notably MonsterQuest (who did not include the episode in the DVD set)
