"GET IT RIGHT! ALL DEMONS ARE BAD! THAT'S PART OF THE MEANING OF "DEMON". IF IT'S GOOD IT'S NOT A DEMON, IT'S A NORMAL SPIRIT! PAN WAS A GOD! WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!! sheesh"Get it right, no demon is naturally bad. Christianity demanded them be bad. Original Demons, were like the Roman Genius, a type of spirit which could follow each person around, almost like their advice, or inspiration. Both good and bad. It was really only when Christianity became wide spread among the Empire, that Demons became evil servitors, which only wished destruction on man. Another example of the idiocy of the Church, demonising everything it came in contact with. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Uh speaking as a descendent of those spreaders or idiocy, the Church spreaded proprganda of demons to gain support of the people. Now looking back this may have been wrong, but the world was a large an untamed place and starting a new religion at that time would need many followers compared to it's ancient predesceors.I agree with the both of you, in Christianity demons were evil, but elsewheres not so much. But would I wrong to say Babolyian myths talk of demons? 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

They speak of such things yes, but not using the same word. The etymology of Demon, is Greek. Though since the word was taken from it's original context and given new meaning, it spread fairly quickly., as a general classification. Every culture has it's "demons" but such cultures generally had specific names for their fiends, rather than a general term, such as demon.I think they used the term Shedu, which in English is Storm-demon, though only as a rough translation and the translation of any language into English can only use words with it's closest meaning. Though i am perhaps wrong, since Greek's seemed to be some sort of Indo-European culture, they could have shared much with neighbouring peoples. I apologise to you King's Call, if i may have offended you, by what i said. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I am not offened. One of my friends was atheist so I am use to have my religon questioned.I have a strong belief in many things, spirits and such being one of them. For it is part of my own practises and faith. The only thing i dislike about most organised religions is that, well, to me it just seems like man made laws and rules, false promises and claiming that God, or the Creator, made such promises, helps people out, heaven and Hell and the like. Such things, i do not believe in. My idea of God, or the Creator as i call it. is that it is the source of all that is, but does not interfere inside the universe, which is why natural laws exist. I guess it is almost a Deist view point of God. Faith in the Creator, but believing that it exists beyond this Universe, unreachable by mortal flesh and such, unprovable, without form and beyond mortal understanding. It is the source of everything, in my opinion. Both good and bad things, for all is born of it, as such, i do not believe in heaven or hell, or a afterlife where we remain aware. rather, i believe that upon our deaths, we return to the Creator, and our essence, is reused, again and again, and again until the ending of all. I also believe that everything inside this universe is made of the Creators essence, from stars and planets, to man and the smallest organism. Everything is created, not just humankind. It can be hard to explain, but it's a nice way to live i think. I feel free and unburdened by pointless questions and worries, of damnation or salvation, for i see the Creator in all that is, no matter what it is. If God interfered on the whim of some humans prayer, then there would be no need for natural laws, such things were made, so that the universe might maintain itself, and the Creator the source of all 1 out of 2 found this valuable. And so, due to my metaphysical practises, i do believe in the dead that refuse to fade and return to the Creator. However, of such things as demons, i am not too sure. From my own experiences, whilst walking my chosen path, the malevolent entities i have came across, have been mindless forces of the universe, or concentrations of a single emotion, of which have no desire or thoughts. They just make you feel bad, like an infection of sorrow or hate. Death begets Death and Hate begets Hate and so on and so forth.I do not believe that a mortal man, can drive out malicious forces from another, just because he or she chants a few words and recites a name. I wont go into any detail on my own practises, or what it entails, but what me, and my family do, takes far longer and drains a person of vast amounts of energy. And of what i speak of, are but the essence of those who have died, if Demons and such forces did exist, it would take a lot more than reciting a prayer over and over again to banish it. In personal view, i believe that Demons are just the incarnation of the primal Universe, what we call the Dark Gods. They are devoid of everything, and exist only to create and destroy in an endless cycle. The most basic of nature, such a slight and dark, birth and death, void and flesh, chaos. necessary things, but in no way remotely human, but some of the most important energies and laws of the universe, for from them, the complex forms of life and worlds may begin. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. good or bad its the belief or faith that you put in the word, not all who are labeled demon are bad everything has the ability to decide what they are.

Alright, I'll break it down for the first guy on this post. "Demon" isa very general term used by the English lenguage, or by most lenguages even. When people define something as a "Demon" they are actually being very general. A monster could be considered a demon by many. For example, a cyclops, minotaur, sphinx, or even a warewolf could be considered demons, along with hell demons. For this reason is that I like to separate demons into Main categories:Hell Demons: The "Actual" demons, as in the ones that are born from the Hate and all evil in Hell, along with the Dark Fallen Angels. Dimensional Demons: Beings that Inhabit different dimensions or planes of existance. They could have dark intentions, or be born out of spite, vile, and evil. But they are not necessarily, they could be born out of something physical, or even other feelings. Usually have an epheral existance, or a not very solid composition in our plane of reality and the physical. Earth's Demons: Beings that inhabit the Earth, that, thoretically speacking, are not Really demons, like for example ghosts (actually, Ghosts can fit in both categories, Earth and Dimensional), Dragons (Dragons, can actually fit in whole load of Categories, from heavenly, to earthly, to dimensiona, etc.), minotaours, Sphinxes, and Monsters in general that usually have a tangeable existance in the physical realm. So there you have it. Those are the differences (Well, Mainly anyways) 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
