Hathor is also present in the Egyptian Flood Story. She was sent by Amon, King of the Gods to purge Egypt of evil life. She killed many, but soon became drunk with rage and a lust or killing, murdering more than just the evil. Amon saw this and commanded Sobek, the Nile God to flood the whole land, and commanded Ra to fill the Nile with wine. Hathor was swept up by the flood and soon became docile due to intoxication. When the river was called back, she begged Amon's forgiveness and he allowed her to remain in the Pantheon as the Goddess of Celebration, never to lay hands on another weapon.
