2. RE: real angels

It doesn't say they don't have wings. Seraphins are believed to have 6 wings. We could debate this, but whatever.

Remember that when Christianity first became the offical religion of Rome, the Romans made their drawings with pagan symbols like the halos and perhaps there are where the wings come from.

Not only the Romans. It is believed that the first images of Angels arose from certain mythical beings from Persia and other surrounding countries, which had a profound effect on the Jewish culture.

The Christian Angels, came from the Jewish bible, who's idea of an angel, who is human like with great wings, stems from the surrounding nations and influential cultures at that time. The Ancient Persians, had a lot of mythology, depicting images of angelic figures, though they didn't actually have things called angels. I believe the word angel stems from a Greek word which means messenger. Thus, from such ancient cultural influences of humanoid winged beings, we have the image of an angel. This, as you also mentioned, also came from classical art, which may have also have been influenced by the east, after all, Greece was very open minded with trade, religion and indeed the idea of homosexuality. Hehehe, good question. As you can probably see, i do not really take any side when it comes to religious mythology. She, was quite a strict Catholic, and loathed teaching me, i was always the one asking questions and bringing my own knowledge to the classroom. Eventually, she began to just ignore me. hehehehe

Hehehe, R.E teachers are funny like that, they teach you something but dislike being questioned about it. Come to think of it, much of school life is like that, most lessons you attend, the teachers expect you to learn what they have to say, no questions asked. It seems a bit pointless learning something if you can't ask why something is the way it is, or you can't bring your own knowledge.
