Werewolf origins
Mar 14 2010, 11:45 PM EDT
I'm interested to find the origins of the werewolf myths, as there doesn't seem to be any reasonable explanations out there. The most common explanation at the moment seems to be that people who had Hypertrichosis weren't believed to be humans, but a human/wolf hybrid, but that just leaves too many giant holes in the myth to me :P Are there any other theories out there?
Do you find this valuable?

Forgive me for the vagueness, but there is also a rare illness, now recognised, that the person believes themselves to be turning into a werewolf, or similar feral creature. I believe under this influence, in the past, people have committed heinous acts. It doesn't take many of these for people back then to become scared.I believe some of the first werewolf legends appeared in either Roman Italy or Greece. Though I may be overlooking something in the Middle East. Do you find this valuable? |
