i saw this in a ripleys book that i read a couple days ago. the book was "the remarkable... Revealed". im looking at the book right now. on page 160-161, it talks about the artist who made two of these "merman". the name of this artist is Juan Cabanaand it says he lives in florida. it also says that he makes other sea monsters along with merman with fish and animal remains. heres a link to a page i found on Juan Cabana's work.. http://www.thefeejeemermaid.com/ 6  out of 6 found this valuable.
