  • Page Autoformatting Ugh, this page formatted itself (annoyingly). Thus causing the strange paragraph cluster near the end. I'll need someone higher in the food chain to take care of this glitch.

  • Missing information doing some research on Wendigo's it is also said that people can become childrens of the wendigo but is is very rare and that a wendigo has the ability to move through time and space to get to their prey. After some more research it is said that Wendigo's has an unnatural strength and speed almost like a werewolf. It is also siad that Wendigo's will not attack any animals and that Wendigo's lives in caves.

  • Wendigo Wendigo don't "Possess" as much as "infect", Their bite may result in a mutation which transforms the victim into a cannibalistic monster, this takes a period of day to a period of weeks. Most don't reach this state as they are simply devoured. Also the Wendigo that bit them doesn't control them or influence them... I've heard fist hand accounts of a person being infected and mutating. Infection usually is a result of a singular wendigo attacking multiple victims, and biting but not finishing them off.

  • a refrence if you ever seen supernatural it had an episode on wendigos..most of what the main post was said in that episode..native american tribes started to begin to starve -for obvious reasons- and they would begin to cannibalize and they ate enough human meat and turned into that..and other side details..look it up the show talks alot about stuff like this its not that bad

  • Wendigo Native Americans believed that a wendigo was a result of cannibalism.A wendigo is a creature that has to eat human flesh forever because they became a cannibal. It is also said a wendigo can warp time and space(meaning they can teleport), so once they find prey,it won't escape.

  • Other Wendigo- I've heard stories about creatures called Wendigos before (refered to as "The Wendigo," implying that there is only one), but the the ones I know are totally different. They revolve around a young man and his superstitious Native American guide. Always, he is the last choice of the visiting man, being the only man brave enough to risk meeting the Wendigo. As the story progresses, the guide stops more and more often. When the visitor asks what is wrong, the guide tells him he thought he heard something. Finally, one night the guide went crazy. He ran out of the visitor's tent, screaming that the Wendigo was burning his feet, or, alternately, that it was calling him. The visiting man chases after his guide, but is ultimately unable to catch up to him and is lost. He wanders in the same direction for a week or two, surviving on what food and water remained, and comes upon the corpse of the Native man who has been dead for as long. His feet are burnt down to bloody stumps.

  • wedigo`s Many people from northern michigan have been known to say they have seen this creature, both the lycanthropes or werewolves and Wendigos come from a Native American origin the Wendigo is suppose to be the lost soul of a tribes that failed given the ability to protect themselves against waring tribes they turn to Wendigos and eat the flesh of there enemies but are destined to walk the world alone. They are supreme hunters but will not kill unless you run, there have reports of campsites being shrouded in fog a wendigos trade mark they almost freeze you make you uncomfortable and then try to scare you into running this is the only time they will attack is when you begin to run. The canabalism is said to open you to the wendigo transformation because human flesh is its only desire, and becomeing that desire you become the thing that manifests its self of it. Being bitten or scratched is to my opinion out of the question, they dont stop when you run its over. There is no out running them. They are afraid of fire however, and its still common for campers to light fires to keep themselves safe at night from predators such as the wedigo. Old tradition fire doesnt protect you from bears or wolves. Ive read reports of campers who said all night they were plagued with a loud screeches and something running around there campsite so fast it was displacing the thick fog that rolled in before the attack but they didnt move until morning where they made haste back home. The only way to kill one is like its said torch it.
