  • you are naïve I couldn't even begin to tell you how old this myth is, but i can tell you how old it isn't. This particular story and these particular pictures may have been created on the SA forums in 2009, but the slender men themselves were written about by Brian Lumley in his story "The Thin People", first published in Whispers magazine in 1987. You can find a copy of this story in Lumley's compilation titled "Fruiting Bodies and other Fungi" where it's 1987 original publishing date is found. If the SA poster was inspired by Lumley or a similar story or if they just happened to think up the same concept is anyone's guess, and it's doubtful that Lumley was the first person to come up with the concept either, so it probably predates '87, though I can't cite any resources beyond that.

In Lumley's story, the thin people are said to be able to disguise themselves as tall thin objects like trees and streetlamps and tuck themselves into cracks because they're able to FOLD themselves and other things by some trick of geometry that humanity hasn't yet figured out. As of 1987 they were said to be clinging to the old places in man's own cities as they died out, too disturbed by humanities rampant sprawl, noise and light to survive, but if the 2009 legends are true, it seems that at least some thin men are propagating their species by folding up human children and carrying them away to be taught the thin men's strange geometry.

Of course it's all fiction, but the believers out there will be the first to point out the similarities in these and other disparate works of fiction and claim them to be inspired by subconscious sightings of the same phenomena I'm sure. I find subconscious sightings of literature to be more likely however. :p

  • vampire What? I know for a fact, that the Vampire Community, are almost all pagans, and indeed many are even Christians. Though i am speaking of the actual Vampire Community, rather than Twilight, Buffy, Dracula, Lost Boys etc role players. The definition of the word Vampire in occult terms, is not the living dead blood drinking fiend of the night. It is a person or creature, which ever drains of energy, it manifests in many ways. Not all Vampires feed upon blood, many are named Psychic Vampires and feed without drawing blood, others feed upon surrounding energy or plants etc, others feed upon released energy during certain intense situations, like rage or passion. Vampires of today, are not the movie style monster, rather just a normal everyday person, with just a single thing which makes them that much different. Besides, drinking blood is not recommended , even if you do consider yourself Vampiric. I shouldn't have to tell you that, as a human, drinking large amounts of blood from fellow humans causes many, many difficulties, for example. Our bodies are not naturally designed to digest blood, large amounts being ingested will cause you to vomit or even get rid of the blood in many not so nice ways. We live in the modern era, there are more blood born diseases now than ever before, it only takes one slip up and you could be infected with some incurable disease. Also, failing to clean wounds properly can lead to infection for your friend, as well as if you cut too deeply, or in the wrong place, death can occur rather quickly. Just a word of warning that's all. Too many do this sort of thing and it all ends in tears.

  • I believe in all biblical beings. This reminds me of C.S. Lewis' book, The Screwtape Letters, about a demon who would write to his uncle for advice on how to corrupt a mortal. Anyways to come more to the point, if you should believe in any creature from the bible, I would belive in Angels and Demons because there are many pieces of evidence to show the presence of these creature either through sightings or possesion.
