Banshee

In Ireland, there is this mythical creature called the Banshee , she is an omen of death and a message for the Underworld. Her name means "fairy of sidhe" or "woman of the fairy mounds. Sidhe can refer to "places of ghostly being" and fairy mounds possible refers to dwelling with the ability to protect the good people from evil.

Banshees are also believed by some to be spirts of nature or pre-Christian Gaelic deities. In Theosophy and in Celtic Christian religion, they are commonly called "fallen angels". In English, they are described as a "fairy" or "fairy woman".

The Banshee is also said to be tasked with the job of warning warning selected members of ancient Irish families of the time of their death. According to tradition, the banshee was only said to cry for four major families but this list seems to of extended do to marriage.

Apparently in terms of clothing, she either wears a grey, hooded cloak or a grave robe meant for the unshriven dead. Those who where not allowed to find "absolution".

Banshee usually come in three of many forms, the first being a young woma n, the second being a rich middle-aged lady or matron, and the third being of a fraglie old woman. Another being, the bean-nighe (washing woman), in this form, she is apparently seen washing the bloodstains out of the fated person clothes.

Rarely seen but heard, her mourning call is often given at night when someone is about to die. In 1437, Scottish King James the I is said to be approached by one such being. They're had be numerous reports of same thing happening to members of the royal court and other high-profile members of Irish society.

The quality of her voice varies to region to region. Some describe it as 'low and pleasant' and others as 'a mix of a wail of a woman and a moan of an owl'. Regardless of what the sound sounds like, the banshee's cry also signals one thing, death.

When several banshee appear at once, it is said that a person great or holy has died. Banshee are commonly decipted as having long, fair hair which they comb with a silver comb. If one is to see such a comb, it is suggested not to pick it up or that person might be spirited away.

Banshee are fairly popular and enjoy the same status (in Ireland) as leprechauns. One possible origins of the Banshee are keeners. Womam in Ireland that sing songs of lament at funerals.

The definition of Dragon: A mythical beast usually represented as a huge, winged, fire-breathing reptile that is often warm-blooded. For centuries the dragon has been prominent in the folklore of many peoples. Thus, its physical characteristics vary greatly and include combinations of numerous animals. The dragon has often been associated with evil. In many legends a dragon had the ability to wreak havoc upon a land and therefore had to be either propitiated by a human sacrifice, or killed. It was also often the guardian of a treasure or a maiden.

The highest achievement of a hero in medieval legend was the slaying of a dragon, as in the story of St. George. King Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon (dragon's head), also killed a dragon. The giant red dragon of the Apocalypse gave rise to the use of the beast as symbolic of Satan in Christian art and literature. In ancient China the dragon was associated with fertility and prosperity. Many of the beliefs connected with the dragon are echoed in snake worship. Dragons deserve a category all their own because they are beasts found all over the world. But there are two distinct types of dragon: the dragon of the Western world and the dragon of the Eastern world.

Western Dragons

Native Americans believed in snake dragons, supernatural wisdom.

These enormous, fire-breathing serpents have scaly bodies and huge bat like wings. Greedy creatures, they hoard gold treasure in dens under the earth. Fierce and always hungry, a Western dragon will eat anything but especially likes weak, young, human flesh. Dragons live in caves, mountains, or lakes. They were particularly active in the Middle Ages, when brave knights challenged them to battle.

Eastern Dragons
Compared to Western dragons, these beasts are quite small. Their bodies are long, and they have two horns for ears. They have no wings, and their soft breath is said to form clouds. They do not roar; instead they make the sounds of beating gongs and jingling bells. Chinese dragons dine on sparrows. They live wherever there is water. They are kind and wise friends of human beings. The western and eastern dragons are some of the most referred to of the dragon species. Many trans-breed dragons have derived from these two types. In a few instances, some Dragons will take livestock from nearby farms. Many times the missing will be sheep.

Dragons: Real or Myth?
Dragons are one of man's greatest achievements of fiction....Right? WRONG. Dragons may have been real. Think about this: Many people believe dinosaurs didn't die out, they evolved. Some people even say that T-Rex evolved into chickens! What if in-between this evolution was a reptile bird? A flying lizard? A dragon?! But that would mean that humans were alive during an evolution: right? What if a handful of dinosaurs survived? Nessie: The Last Plesiosaur. Mokèlé-mbèmbé. Are all these dinosaur sightings ironic.....NO! Dinosaurs are among us! We must find them! Before they find us... No dragons are much too different from dinosaurs, some dragons who don't have wings use air ripples to fly, like lungs, and are more aerodynamic than most dragons and dinosaurs, for they glide in a air space without need to catch air with their wings. This is caused by their special scales in which they can catch air ripples, then release them.

Rather than thinking about IF they're real, we need to talk about how they would hide. Because, seriously, I don't think anyone will ever go into a cave and be like, "Oh, I found a beautiful dragon hiding in a damp ugly cave, trying to hide from humans who try to pierce it with nasty little pellets, but guess what? It's now my friend." Be realistic. A real dragon would be living on some deserted island full of wild game, and with a huge natural deposit of magnetic ores (the only way an island would be able to hide itself from satellites) it would also need huge acreage in which to roam and fly.
The island would also have to be terribly isolated, otherwise people would have found it or, obviously, the dragon would have flown away in search of a better place.

Dragons....there are many, and many are their forms. Dragons can be divided into many different categories, but every dragon HAS HIS OWN PERSONALITY much like humans, so I can't really generalise and assure you 100% what they are like, but I can help.

Before I properly start let me just make a quick note on a Dragon's body. As you may or may not know Dragons in general do not "fit" exactly into the hierarchy of the biological classification method, (Life,Kingdom, phylum, class, orders, families, genus, and species), that's because the system is incomplete. New species are discovered often and some times the hierarchy has to be updated to fit them in. Same goes for Dragons.

First "DRAGON" is a big term. A "True" or "Pure" Dragon is smart....REAL smart. We will call these dragons Main Dragons. There are dragons that are only as smart a human child of 7 years of age 10 at best. We shall refer to these as Branch Dragons. This terminology is in comparison to a tree, were the main body is the true part of the tree and the branches are not as. . .um. . .impressive. There are also what we could call Sub-Dragons which are sub-species of dragons which are inferior to even Branch Dragons, that is to say that they are barely more than animals or can barely think more than an animal. They are they still smarter than dogs, elephants, or dolphins but are not at the human level. They are only VERY distantly related to even branch dragons.

So, to most, dragon equals huge, gargantuan, gigantic, massive, etc. Well, guess what? They are . But not to the popular dramatic extent. Dragons are usually anywhere from 1 1/2 feet tall to 26 feet tall (Note: 1 foot =0.3048 meters so anywhere from 0.4572 meters to 7.9248 meters) when standing, depending on their age, type, and parentage (the dragons' parents). Most dragons grow VERY quickly like most animals that are wild (no offence intended by comparing dragons to animals), and lead long lives (unless "in-eventualities" occur. Ex: knight kills the dragon, though highly unlikely). Usually those that have the shortest life span and are the smallest still live more than 100 years. Some are even immortal.

Sub-dragons are usually small, anywhere from 1 1/2 feet tall to 5, maybe 6 feet tall at most. Though they are considerably smaller than other dragons and about half of their breeds are wingless, they still are surprisingly fast and strong.

Branch dragons are usually smaller, and less powerful than Main Dragons. They never reach more than 20 feet but are still formidable. Leaf dragons are usually small being from 6 1/2 to 13 feet tall. Some don't have wings, but they are still strong. They can be worthy companions too, but above a regular pet. Breath weapons are also variable....like fire, acid, poison, ice, petrifying gas, sleeping gas, lightning, corrosive liquids (sometimes even gas but rare) and so forth.

Main Dragons are absobloodylutly amazing. They have Intelligence that is at human level or above, and their strength (physically and magically) are stunning (and that's a huge understatement). Main Dragons have are usually the largest of the three categories ranging from 14 to 26 feet tall. However there a couple of breeds that are considered Main dragons that are smaller, one of them been the Fairy Dragon who is in between 3 to 6 1/2 feet tall. They are truly beautiful creatures.

Dragons can also use magic, and are VERY good at it usually. They also have amazingly strong scales that resist most physical attacks; these scales cover most of the creatures body, though they tend to soften and be smaller at the breast/chest and right below the jaw were the neck and head connect making the most vulnerable parts, and bigger and stronger at the head. The scales also contain some special magical properties. The scales are strong enough to withstand arrows, swords, hand guns, large guns, and even some cannon bullets/missiles. Dragon teeth and claws are amazingly sturdy, strong, and light, they are second only to diamond in strength and are more resistant than diamond (that is to say they can take more hits with out scaring or breaking). The claws are made of a material similar to that of our nails, but much more concentrated and fortified.

Dragons usually have attributes or specialties. So, as you are now aware of, dragons can use magic, and breath weapons. However some dragons are born with the ability to breath fire, others with poison or Ice or maybe shadows or maybe even sound. Dragons can control Fire, Ice, Water, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Metal, Poison, wood, light, shadows, acid, and sound (to name a few). It all depends on the dragon of course. Impressive right? Well it gets better, they are not limited to just one power/attribute/speciality. Dragons can have many abilities and powers and a legion of magics. Be it that the Dragon attained the other powers through training or magic or sheer will power they can learn new abilities. A dragon that breaths fire naturally might not very easily use water but he can certainly learn to manipulated to a certain extent with enough practice and time.

Just remember the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" does not apply to Dragons in general. After all they keep developing until the final stage of their life.

Dragon bones are one of the dragons' most amazing features, they are superbly light, and yet strong enough to hold a creature of several tons in weight. A sword made out of dragon bone was said to be a warriors dream, as it was stronger than all other swords of metal, much less heavy, able to cut through steel as if it was wood, resistant to heat and cold in extremes, resistant to magic, and even (in some cases) loyal to the owner, and had some magic of their own, which manifested itself in different ways to the owner of the sword. There were some rumors and legends that Excalibur was made of dragon bone.

Dragons also like to hoard treasure and know were everything is and how much its worth. Stealing even one grain of gold from a dragon is not recommended, since A) the dragon will notice B) the dragon will be VEEERRRRYYY irritated (if you are VERY,VERY,VERY LUCKY, he will JUST be VEEEERRRYYY Irritated. Worst case scenario you are dead. enough said) and C) he will hunt you down to the ends of the earth if catches even a hint of your smell, breath, voice, or anything which can lead it towards you. Dragons have Amazing eye sight, sense of smell, superb hearing, excellent sense of taste and movement, and a Truly magnificent knack/gift to feel if magical items or spells/curses/charms/incantations or traps or trinkets are around (or underground!).

All dragons can swim (as far as I know anyways and I know a good lot about them), but not all can breathe under water; only some. They all can swim at very fast velocities, and those who can fly can also fly at amazingly fast velocities. Dragons are also amazingly flexible and agile in water, air, or on land, and very quick moving on all of them too.

I am guessing some of you wonder how can a Dragon, a creature of such large size fly or even glide on the air. Well even though I haven't had the pleasure to study to a length the body of a live specimen, I believe that they have (like birds) air sacks which not only make their body more suitable for flying but also gives them some natural buoyancy too. The wings do not end like many people believe in their shoulders, the membrane of the wings extends from the start of the wing to near the thigh. This allows them to have a larger area upon which the air can exert the force of lift. The bones are also superbly light and strong, and they have very powerful muscles that work the wings.

Lastly (because my fingers are rapidly getting tired) I salute any who have met or will meet any dragons in their life time. And bow to any dragon who might read this. Any dragon person I salute also. I wish I could talk with a dragon once more, they are simply fascinating. Truly amazing creatures they are. Though if anyone reading this does come into contact with one I would suggest not getting on its bad side. Not even if you are a warlock, wizard, witch, or mighty warrior. There is a reason why until now defeating even a Leaf Dragon was considered a great deed, or the greatest act of strength and bravery for knights.

And as you may have (or not) noticed, the knights/person that survive a mortal encounter or a fight with a dragon (it matters not if Leaf, Branch, or Main Dragon) very,very,very rarely survives, and those who do survive was because A) they had a trick or two (or more) under their sleeve (usually) B) they are usually fighting Leaf and Branch dragons, C) they catch the creature unaware or distracted, and D) there's usually more than one person involved helping the other. And many times they just survive because they got lucky and ran away, or convinced the creature to go away and go home telling tall tales of how they "killed a dragon". I've given you all the warning and help I can for now. Good luck.

Its been a while since I last checked into the Dragon section (One of the most extensive pages in the site I believe). And, by popular demand, I am back to expand a bit on the summary of Class #1 (above).

Quick review:

Dragons are the most amazing living thing on this world. Period. Meant to be extraordinarily wise and intelligent, as well as undeniably strong and sometimes ferocious, Dragons are known to have very large amounts of gold, which they have collected over the endless centuries that fill up their lives. They are reptilian in appearance and often have wings. Many used to believe that dragons were immortal (and some are). However, being the heartless sadists that a lot of the human race are, there aren't many of a really old age to tell us much (which they could). And out of the ones that there are, I would wager several bars of gold that some of them prefer to eat us for revenge and self-defence (and possibly as well as food; it's hard for a gigantic dragon to hide itself effectively while on a hunt, therefore some of them have to put hunting off for as long as possible).

Now, if you still don't know what a Dragon is by now, then you obviously haven't been paying attention, which offends me most entirely and compleatly and it is suggested that you run away. . .Now. and hide. Or re -ead everything on this page until it is burned in your memory.

Let us begin:

Let us start by expanding on the very basics of Dragons and busting a few myths about them. (I will explain why later why they are true or false)

1. "It has been said that Dragons are all cold blooded (literally). Is this true?" This is FALSE! Dragons are NOT cold blooded. They are Warm blooded.
2. "A lot of people say that dragons are easy to fool and steal from. Is it true?" NO! They are NOT. In fact they are very clever and notice if anything is missing.
3. "They say Its impossible for Dragons to fly." LIES! Dragons ARE able to fly.
4. "Dragons only eat people." ABSOLUTELY FALSE! Depending on the Dragon it will eat a variety of things. Dragon's can eat (again, depending on their type) Anything from Plants, to fish, to cows, to crows, to octopus, to sharks, to even elephants and wales.
5. "All dragons are evil." WRONG! NOT all Dragons are evil.
6. "Dragons live for a hundred years." Okay, this is a tricky one. DEPENDING on the type of dragon, size, and conditions upon which the dragon is and the condition in which its environment is it could live for a hundred years, or less, or more.
7. "Dragon eyes glow in the dark" WRONG! No, Dragon eyes do not glow in the dark. But they can see very well in the dark (much better than humans).
8. "Dragon hide is very heavy" WRONG! Its actually very light.

Okay, so, now that those myths are done and away with, lets continue with some basic anatomy of Dragons.

In general, Dragons are light weight, well light relative to their size and mass. Most of them are still several tons. Their bones are very light and strong, their muscles are very powerful, and their scales and hide (contrary to popular belief) is very light. It has been suggested that Dragons, like birds, Have air sacs to aid their flight. I think it is very possible that they do, indeed, have air sacs, which would make them lighter and more balanced in flight.

Its hard to demonstrate or create a verbal picture of how strong, how light, and how powerful Dragons and their bodies are, but I will try to explain. Lets begin by their bones.
For example, If I was to make a dagger out of the tooth of a Dragon it would not weight more than 2-7 pounds (depending on the size of the tooth), and it would cut probably better than your average steel dagger.
If I was to make a bow out of a rib or bone from a dragon, it would be strong enough, and flexible enough to match (and probably out do) those of top make, since it has a stronger resistance, and is very flexible. It would also not weight as much as one made out of metal.

As for their jaw muscles:
Well, let me put it this way: If you placed a thick bar of steel in between the teeth of a fully grown, average sized dragon and the dragon bites down on the bar of steel, as soon as he opens his mouth you will find that the bar of steel has been cut through. In other words, their bite is the equivalent of a few cars/vans that have been soldered to rows of pointy swords and dropped down on whatever it is that the dragon is biting. its that bad.

Their Blood - Warm or cold?
They are also Warm blooded, because they require to be so to be able to fly and stay alive, since cold blooded animals can't produce their own body heat and they don't have as good sirculation as warm blooded animals.

And their Scales:
Well, the best way to eplain this is that I could shoot arrows at a scale from a dragon's back all day, and I would bearly scratch it. I could shoot it with a hand gun and I would only scratch it. Hell, I could Bring down a claymore sword down on that thing as hard as I could and I still wouldn't be able to break it. However their scales are somewhat softer and smaller in their belies, and are the softest and smallest in their armpits, the tip of their snout, and in the neck were their head and their throat meet. Basically attacking a dragon is attacking a tank that can fly, bite, slash, cut, use (a) breath weapon(s), throw bulders and sweep entire ranks of men with a single flick of their tail.

That is the very basics of their anatomy : Strong muscles, Warm blooded, Very light body structure, and Very hard and strong scales. That's all most of you need to know. And chances are, that if you will get a chance to take a closer look to the insides of a dragon it will be because you will likely be inside the dragon and will have no use of this or any knowledge soon after.

Dragons are very kind and very very smart.They are smarter than 20 elephants combined!

white eyes

White eyes are creatures of the night in search for revenge against old co-workers who left them to die in a old minor shaft that collapsed with 16 men in it. the shaft was pitch-black and had to collect water off the walls of the cave to quench there thirst.These men survived on rats, mushrooms, and eventuly there dead co-workers. after a while the few men left started to dig there way through the rock and debris. when they finally got through all of the rock they found out two things. one.............. they found out that no one was searching for them and that they just shut down the mine. two.................. they could no longer tolerate the day or sun because they were in pitch black so long, they had white eyes and only a small black dot in each eye. in rage they made a pact that they would find every one that theft them there and kill them. every once and awhile people would here that hikers were found dead in the mountains and the said that they found human teeth marks on there neck.. now this was a hiundred years ago so you think they would be dead. i thought that until i herd on the radio that there was a hiker found in the mountians with human teeth marks on the dead mans neck.

when i was young i didn't believe in ghosts. Untill i was a ten year old. They say when i am mad or disoriented, the sky darkens and an eye like circle apears on my forehead. when i was 11, i saw ghosts and other Philippine mythical cratures. My friends also said i was not a human, that i was somehow a hybrid between a human and a something.

Story #2

well, i can tell you allot of stories, that I've experienced, or people in my family have, My grandma told me lots.

Here's One, But please don't retell these stories on other web's.

My grandma used to attend a all- girl boarding school. And since is in old Europe , they did not have the money build actual washroom's. so they had outhouse's.

Anyways the thing is, there was a rumor going around, that a girl in her class, was turning into a bat at night, since she always disappeared and often didn't come back till early morning. So she and the other girl's decide they would try to follow her to see what was really happening. So the bat- girl, without knowing bout my grandma following her, walked into the outhouse, and then, when she walked out, (the bat girl) she had a blue tail, and had glowing eye's. that convinced my grandma to retreat thinking she knew enough, and was scared.

She never dared to talk to that girl again, and she decided that she would keep what she saw to herself, until she told my, mom, and then, my mom told me.

Story #3

when i was five we lived in our old house in GA. well i was lying in bed, wile everyone was down stairs, well i was wide awake but didn't feel like coming down. so i was just lying there when i herd someone coming so my basic instinct is to pretend I'm asleep. so i close my eyes and someone come in, they sit on the bed and place there hand on mine. I'm thinking its my mom, but i don't open my eyes, then after a few moments they get up and leave, they leave the door open. well i get curious and go down stairs, i find my mom cooking, so i ask if she had been to my room, she said no that she and everyone else had been down stairs. i still don't know who/what was in my room.

Story #4

we had just moved in to our new house in SC. i was sleeping in my room when i suddenly woke up. i look around an see these two glowing red eyes in my closet, now I'm only 5-6 so i jump up and run as fast as i can to my parents room only to find there door open and the two eyes staring back at me, i bolt for my room jump under the covers and don't come out until morning.

Story #5

ok i know i have a lot of stories but this is the last one,

i was about 9-10 when i was sleeping in my room, when i woke up, so i started to watch tv, i was wide awake in a few min, so a hour went by and i was fine, when all of a sudden this ghostly hand reaches up from my floor and turns off my tv. i freak out but i cant move so i just sit there until morning.

This is a TRUE experience that Alienman1000 had. Very interesting poltergeist account, so please read.

"I was at my Nana's. I was 6 or 7....and I was crazy. So I pretended to play a show on the piano. All of a sudden, after I finished, I heard clapping & cheering. It wasn't my Nana, she was too far away to hear me or for me to hear her noise. I looked outside, to see if anyone was there. No one. I looked around, but saw nothing. I asked my Nana if she had ghosts in her house, and she said 'the only ghost i know of in this house would be my mother'. "

Story #7

I have many stories but I'll tell the one that I actually have literary/textual support of. Until the age of twelve I lived in Mission Viejo, California in Orange County. I had a really good friend named Morgan who lived down the street from me and we would often have sleep overs. The very first sleep over I ever had over there, at the age of 7, was the thing that set me onto researching myths and folklore. Their house, on the inside, had medieval swords, suits of armor, etc. because her parents were interested in that kind of thing and had traveled many places in the world. At about three in the morning I woke up and woke Morgan up because I needed something to drink. We went out to the kitchen, got a glass of water, and sat down on the couch to drink it and talk. As we were whispering all of the sudden Morgan stopped talking. When I asked her what was wrong all she did was pointed. There in the middle of the room were five children ranging from about 8-4 doing ring-around-the-rosy. We could hear them as clear as day and as soon as they were finished singing it, after they had all fell down, they joined hands and walked off, disappearing. We went back into her room and did not leave until that morning when we could smell pancakes. We brought it up with her parents and we actually found out that their, and houses in the surrounding area, were built on an old cemetery that had a lot of children in it. They showed us a book that had old pictures in it of the area and you could see what they meant. The parents said that they had seen things to, and not to fear anything that we saw or heard because nothing would happen to us. To this day I remember that night and what we saw, and I've seen more since then, but I always know that there is a reason for it. AVMidian

It was a strange summer night. I was about 6-7 when it happened, but I remember it perfectly. It was about midnight, and I was awake, and everyone else was sleeping. I decided to get a glass of water, and so I almost walked into the hallway, when I saw a shadow flash across the kitchen, and then a head peeked out. It was too dark to see, so I didn't see who, or what it was. I was so frightened, I ran a few feet away, back where I was before, and hid under the covers, staying there. I was soon fast asleep. I awoke in the morning, remembering the strange shadow and the head...

Story #9

Back in the day, when I lived by the beach and was a Junior in the Girl Scouts--making me around nine or ten--my troop went on a weekend camp out at the local state park . . . A local state park that was well known by basically everyone who lived near it that weird things happened at Oscar Scherer state park. Alligators climbed up and over the chain-link fencing that surrounds the lake, tents would just collapse, and at night you would hear footsteps and even at times the pounding of horses hooves, only there would be nothing around your campsite what so ever.
So, now that everyone has a sense of how this place is, let's get to my story of when I was a girl scout and ready to explore and be all girl scoutish.
My older brother had told me of places that were okay to go, and places to stay away from. My brother had been there, knew the stories, and he was a Eagle scout . . . I really wished I would have listened to him back then.
Railroad tracks ran through the park, and was a popular place for the boy and girl scouts to go. My brother told me not to follow them, and to by no means necessary, go to the bridge. Well, my friends wanted to follow the tracks to the old bridge. I remembered my brother's words, but, when they kept talking about it, I kept getting this really bad feeling. I didn't want to go, but they kept saying that it wouldn't be fun if I didn't go, meaning that I would make a good scape-goat if something went wrong. I kept getting these horrible nervous tensions. Feelings that usually warned me before something happened, before I tread to far into an area I shouldn't go, but I ignored my intuition, and followed my friends. I took the lead, midsummer sun blasting down on us while I was decked out in jeans, hiking boots and a long sleeved shirt 'cause I wasn't about to get a tick on me, and something just told me that I needed to dress that way.
As we walked along the old tracks, and stepped upon the old steel tracks, they would begin to vibrate like crazy and a loud rumbling would sound in the distance but, there was no train. The closer we got to the bridge, the worst my stomach tightened. The more nauseated I felt. I was ahead of my friends, watching the path for snakes or what be it, only to stop when my friends began to scream. I turned, only to find them being swarmed by wasp. We quickly headed back to camp, all my friends mad at me because I didn't get stung, but I felt that we were warned to not go near the bridge, being that two boys had died there, messing around as we were, and were hit by a train. That is my first story, about my encounter at Oscar Scherer State park.

Story # 10

Red-eyes, a son of one of the Seminole Chiefs who long ago resided where Oscar Scherer State Park is located during the war of the Yamasee War. Red-eyes was a brave man, a sturdy warrior and next in line to lead their tribe, until he was killed on the grounds where the park resides. Legends say that Red-eyes haunts the creek that runs through the park, and at certain times of the night on a certain phase of the moon, one could hear the slashing of water on the creek where Red-eyes lost his life. upon the water will be only the splashing of his feet, while only his glowing red-eyes can be seen rushing toward his next victim . . .

The second day of camp was rolling around. Most of my troop-mates were still angry with me for not being stung by wasp but they eventually got over it when we discovered an island. Yes, I typed that right. An island, on land, within a state park. Not the ocean or gulf.
The creek that ran under the train track's bridge, is what created this uber-duber cool island where we could hide and act like we made some type of discovery in the name of all girls in the world and do some Island of the Flies stuff. Sadly we didn't get to kill anyone, but besides that.
The creek was only about maybe between four to seven feet long. I was a kid then and I had no use for perception, I just went with it. We could jump perfectly onto the island, but the embankment to jump back, was higher and we couldn't jump back across. The only other thing we could do was walk across a draping Oak branch that acted as a bridge, back to mainland. Well, strangely the water began to rise in the creek, covering the island. Some of the girls managed to get back across via and oak tree, while others couldn't because there was nothing to grip on to, and no one wanted to fall into that water, even though you could see the bottom and it was crystal clear.
Well, me being one of the idiots stuck on the island that was steadily sinking because it wasn't really an island but a marsh, I thought up a wonderful idea. There was a large round, and long staff of bamboo. Why not use it to get across the creek. I was skinny and had monkey arms then, I could balance well on the balance beam at school, why not this? So, i tried out my idea. my friends cheered me on, as I done my gymnast stance and stepped one foot on the pole, only for my foot to slip and then the rest of my flimsy body just followed by foot. I fell right into the gator infested creek that should have only been three feet deep but had NO BOTTOM WHAT SO EVER. I kicked, only for my feet to be caught by what I thought were roots of the nearby oaks. I reached out to grab the ledge, only for the ledge not to be there. Just as I gasped in a breath of air, something yanked me under water.
At first I thought I was dead, caught by a gator, only my ankles wasn't hurting where the pressure of the gripping was. Gripping, not biting. Something was holding me, pulling me down deeper into this darkness that made the water icy cold. I couldn't swim with whatever it was holding me, i couldn't get up to breathe. I kept flailing my arms, hoping to catch hold of something as I watched the light above me grow dimmer, and my lungs burned wanting air. I screamed, only for bubbles to escape, and for what felt to be roots steadily taking hold of my form and dragging me down into this creek that should have only been three feet deep.
Then someone had my hand, a hard grip that quickly yanked me up from the water.
My scout leader was furious, me of course being the one in the most trouble for doing something without thought. I almost drowned in that creek, and was taken by something that I had never felt before. When I told my Eagle Scout brother about my ordeal,he only shook his head and said, "I told you not to go near there. Even I can't go there because of our sensitivity. We're not of their tribe, so we can't go on Red-eyes land. You, sis, almost drowned by Red-eyes in his creek."
Since my ordeal at Oscar Scherer State park, I haven't had the urge to ever go there again. Though, I wanted to see the luring bobcat. That is a legend of a bobcat that would lure the native children to it, by mimicking a human woman by singing. One the children were caught in the allure, it would kill them to feed to her young. My brother had heard the bobcat's song, but wouldn't tell me anything about it. Oh for those of you who don't believe me, Oscar Scherer is a real state park, in Osprey, Florida.

Story #11

Once when I was camping too very weird things happened, both true!
The first one: I was talking the two other kids around my age telling them a weird dream i had a few years before, when one of them stopped me and asked "Were they yellow" and I answered "Yes, how`d you know that?" she had told me that she had the same dream, then the other kid told me he had that one two, now that wasn't the weird part at all, i remembered seeing a girl selling herbs and stuff at a stall, she was that girl, and she saw me two, i also remembered seeing two people yelling at each other, he was one of those too, (Apparently the other was a merchant who had ripped him off so he was well mad) and he remembered me spying on him, we were there together but we handled things differently.

the secant one: This one is short, in the big bathroom stall at the same camp there are these cracks on the floor in the shape of a head with antenna on it, it is always smiling at me and i feel safe there. but whenever these three people that I hung out with went in there it was frowning and they felt scared. one of the braver of the three and me went in there and like always it was smiling happily, i said "See it smiles," and she said "Only when your here" I left the bathrooms and only a second later the other girl came running out, i asked what was wrong and she said that when I left the cracks moved into a frown and she had gotten scared and ran out.

Story #12

This happened to me a while back but I still remember it clearly. It was a good peaceful day. It was sunny and I was lying on my bed reading a book. My family was in the master bedroom talking and looking at some albums and trinkets. I hadn't felt like looking through any old stuff and that's why I had been in my room. I was propped up on my elbows reading and facing my door. All of a sudden my bed started swaying back and forth. It was like something was under my bed and it was trying to shake me off of it. I dropped my book in shock and I balled my fists into my blankets so I wouldn't fall off. I looked around my room to see if anything else was shaking (I thought maybe an earthquake was going on)but everything else was stock still. Not even the frames on my wall rattled. I held on as my bed kept shaking, and then after a few minutes it stopped. The door to my room was open and I wanted to bolt out of the room but I could not move. It was like I was frozen in place. A few seconds went by and then I made myself get on my knees. It was hard to move. I then decided to start screaming for my siblings and so I did. They all came to my door and asked what was wrong. I told them what had happened, and I realized that I could move easily again. They told me that they hadn't felt anything. They even checked under my bed and they saw nothing down there. Til this day I don't know what happened, and it wasn't an earthquake that caused it.

Story 13
This is what happened. My parents and my brother were all asleep it was about 3 in the morning. So I get up and head down stairs but right before I do I hear someone out in the hall, Thinking it was my little brother I walked out and just down the hall there was a strange shadow easily 7 feet tall with 3 massive things sticking out of its back I closed my door really fast and pushed my dresser in front of my door then hid under my covers I was only 6. I heard a really creepy growl outside then a thud on my door. I dident move for the rest of the night.

Okay hers the even more creepy part

Me and my family went on vacation when I was 13 and when we were sleeping in our cottage bedroom. I heard tapping on my window, thinking it was some animal I just went back to sleep I woke up about a hour later because I heard someone in the hall outside my bedroom in our cottage. I looked at the clock it was about 2 in the morning. This was kinda confusing because no one would be up yet? So I walk over easily forgetting about the other time several years ago, I opened the door and there only 5-6 feet away was the exact same creature thing I slowly closed the door not to startle it and then simply locked it. I was extremly freaked out right now and I calmly went back to my room and went to bed. A few minutes later I heard our front door open and close and I was to scared to move till the next morning.

Now I am till freaked out abotu it becuase it was only 3 months ago

If you can please explain this it would hlep me sleep at night

Okay on that same trip the very first night when we were in a hotel on are way to are cottage I had this dream where me and some guy were at a small lake. We decided to rent a bout for soem reason cant remeber why. So me and him are driving aroudn in a speed boat when all of a sudden I hear a thump. I look over the boat and the boat flips and we go flying into the lake. I remeber seeing a small childs face poking out of the water he had glowing green eyes and had dark black hair. Worst of all his hands were stubbs no fingers. I woke up really fast and couldent sleep for the rest of the night. Because I swear to god in this 1 corner of are hotel room it was pitch black. Unaturaly pitch black as if it was a wall painted black. For the rest of the night I stared there so nothing could sneak up on me. I swear to god I heard breathing and was sure something was staring back and for about 2 seconds a saw those glowing green eyes flash in the dark. I dident sleep until I saw that other creature later on and then i dident sleep for atleast 1 week.

I stumbled upon this rare dragon during my research, and I think it deserves some recognition so I posted it here.As the name Sugests, Its a dragon of light. The name is derived from the latin "Bright light" or "Shining light". This dragon is supposed to be a dragon made out of mostly energy and has little or no substance. Theyr appearance is (like the name sugests) like light, more specifically the like the Aurora Borealis (also called the Northen lights, and the Veils of the Moon), only that they tend to be of a more specific color and tend to be roughly in dragon shape. However theyr are not bound very much by earthly concerns since its kinda hard to kill something that is mostly energy and soul. They are known to be good entities and bringers of good fortune.

Here's each sign written with each description.I have to admit that I (Cinderfeather) live up to MY sign.

(Aries):the ram.Its element is fire,and its planet is Mars.It falls between March 21 to April 19.Description:Most often impulsive and compulsive,but loyal.Likes to prove the same point over and over and over again,and are offended if you turn your back on them.They dislike change,need their own space,and more often than not,resists authority.

(Taurus):the bull.Its element is earth and its planet is Venus.It falls between April 20 and May 20.Description:Boring,act dense for attention,stubborn,holds grudges,and talks alot.The good sides are that they're artistic,neat,not nessesarily family oriented but very protective of them,and they love birthdays.

(Gemini):the twins.Its element is air and its planet is Mercury.It falls between May 21 and June 21.Description:Avid talkers,cautious with new friendships,self-conscious,like learning new things and having a change of pace,easy but fickle and independent.

(Cancer):the crab.Its element is water and its planet is the moon.It falls between June 22 to July 22.Description:Protective of loved ones,money savers,sentimental,animal lovers,selective,moody but fight it,easily hurt,and will tell the same story a hundred times and leave out the punch line a hundred times.

Venavores

Im positive you've never heard of a venavore. Venavores are like Vampires except for the fact that venavores drink and feed on poisonous or venamous creatures. Venavores can manipulate the minds of humans can talk to animals. Can read minds. Venavores have distinct eyes. The most distinct being gray with a red ring aroud the pupil. When avenavores eyes flash white it means they are manipulating someones mind. Venavores have what are called portals. they toss it up in the air shout out the name of where they want to go in venivian (their language) and the portal takes them their. Venavores enimies are not humans like most monsters. Venavores are peacefull. When a venavore is in true form it will look something like a dinosaur. about the size of a velociraptor. in human form they are very attractive. Venavores are unlike vampires unsteryll to humans. when in feeding but still human form the nails will grow long and turn black. the teeth will grow long. Venavores feeding claws are hollow they use them as straws. they punture their prays flesh with the indez claw and stick the thumb claw in their mouth and suck our the innards of the venamous or poisonous creature. Anytype of water is deadly to a venavore it makes them boil and burn. They have to drink and take baths in acid, acid that woud kill any human. human food makes a venavore terribly sick they need the venom or poison in each meal. Venavores do not need sleep their urine is green. Their tears and sweat is red.

Typhon is the final son of Gaia, fathered by Tartarus, and is the most deadly monster of Greek mythology. Typhon attempts to destroy Zeus at the will of Gaia, because Zeus had imprisoned the Titans. His human upper half reached as high as the stars. His hands reached east and west and had a hundred dragon heads on each. His bottom half was gigantic viper coils that could reach the top of his head when stretched out and made a hissing noise. His whole body was covered in wings, and fire flashed from his eyes. He was defeated by Zeus, who trapped Typhon underneath Mount Etna.

In Zulu mythology, Tikoloshe, Tokoloshe or Hili (from the Xhosa word utyreeci ukujamaal) is a dwarf-like water sprite. They are considered a mischievous and evil spirit. They can become invisible by swallowing a pebble.

The Tokoloshe, according to the Zulu shaman Credo Mutwa, has been known to take on many forms. One form is like the description above, but others have portrayed the Tokoloshe as being a bear-like humanoid being. "Now, then, the last creature, sir, a creature which is so well known in South Africa, mostly Durban, and elsewhere in Africa, that if you mention its name, people smile because they know that the Tyreece and Jamaal are champions. It is called a Tokoloshe. Every African knows what a Tokoloshe is. Some call it Tikoloshe. It looks like a very nasty looking teddy-bear in appearance, in that its head is like that of a teddy-bear, but it has got a thick, sharp, bony ridge on top of its head. Tokoloshes have a hole in their head. They are also immensely strong. The ridge goes from above its forehead to the back of its head, and with this ridge it can knock down an ox by butting it with its head. Other Zulu sources also describe Tikoloshe as a bear-like being, similar to the Bigfoot creatures of America and Asia in general appearance.

However, the Tokoloshe is stated to be "a cross between a zombie, poltergeist, and a gremlin" that "lives in South Africa." It goes on to say Tokoloshes are "created from dead bodies by shamans...if the shaman has been offending by someone." According to the book, the creatures are "only the size of small children... [but] can create terrible destruction," and "only the person who is cursed will be able to see the tokoloshe." In addition, the book says the tokoloshe may also choose to wander, causing mischief, particularly to schoolchildren. Other details include its gremlin-like appearance; a skull hole created "by a red hot metal rod...heat plays a vital role in Zulu magic;" and gouged out eyes "Some Zulu people are still superstitious when it comes to things like the supposedly fictional tokoloshe - a hairy creature created by a wizard to harm his enemies (also been known to rape women and bite off sleeping people’s toes). Another similar being is the Ogo. Although many Zulu villagers claim not to have seen the creature, it is thought that they really DID see one (for according to legend, those who see a Tokoloshe must never tell a soul, or the creature will return seeking retribution).

On the west coast of Africa the Tokoloshe, or Teikolosha as it is known there, is a worm like creature which has a head of a dog like creature and a sharp tongue made of gold. It is said that the Teikolosha will burrow through the sand and eat the crops of villages that have a resident that has done wrong. Once all the crops have been consumed the Teikolosha will lay eggs in place of where the crops were but what will grow will be more crops but these crops will be poisonous and bleed when cut. Anyone who attempts to fight the Teikolosha will be banished to the African underworld and it is thought that their children will age rapidly and crumble to dust.

Thunderbirds

The Thunderbird is a legendary creature in North American indigenous peoples' history and culture. It's considered a "supernatural" bird of power and strength. It is especially important, and richly depicted, in the art, songs and oral histories of many Pacfic Northwest Coast cultures, but is also found in various forms among the peoples of the American Southwest and Great Plains. Thunderbirds were major components of the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex of American prehistory.

The Thunderbird's name comes from that common belief that the beating of its enormous wings causes thunder and stirs the wind. The Lakota name for the Thunderbird is Wakį́yą, a word formed from kįyą́, meaning "winged," and wakhą́, "sacred." The Kwakwaka'wakw have many names for the Thunderbird and the Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) called him Kw-Uhnx-Wa. The Ojibwa word for a thunderbird that is closely associated with thunder is animikii, while large thunderous birds are known as binesi another name for these beasts are Kirin the kirin isn't exactly a thunder bird but the tearm kirin is japanese beast for a thunder beast.

Scylla

The Scylla is a sea creature that is a nymph waist up which goes under water when it attacks with its six
enormous wolf heads waist down. It was orignally a girl that was raised by wolfs and was trying to follow a man who promised love and riches of her imagination but the man was just using her to kill a man. Then she drowned trying to swim aboard the man's boat but, when she drowned Poseidon changed her into a nymph but instead she turned into a half nymph half deadly 6 headed wolf beast.

Rods

A rod is a well proven but a very hard to see creature. In some videos on newscasts and even home videos shows tiny or very large creatures. mostly sited around the great planes areas they show up as brown and yellow streaks on a video. They get anywhere from 1cm long to a mile long. They can reach speeds up to 150 miles per hour.

The one thing that keeps them invisible is there sometimes small size and other times speed depending on how large they are. The larger ones which reach up to 300 foot long use speed to keep themselves hidden. The link at the top of the page will show you some smaller "rods"

Psionic Vampyres

Psionic Vampires, are also known as energy vampires as depicted here, are vampires who drink the souls of mortals. Both male and female, they are very rare. Found all across the world, they drink by placing their mouth on or near the victim's and inhale. They have all the qualities of a normal vampire though of course lacking the blood drinking factor. According to legend, they can drink the entire soul of one person in one go, or they can take small amounts of life force over time, though most choose the former option. It is said that only some ancient talismans, such as the Egyptian Ankh (symbol of life, death, immortality, and resurrection) can protect mortals and faith in those are shaky. Unlike being bitten by a blood vampire, it's often hard to tell how the victim died, as they have no bite marks. However it's often said that if a psychic searches their last brain waves, they can detect terror, horror, fear, etc, but no memories.

Quanlier

In Cherokee legend, a Quanlier has the head of a wolf, the torso of a man, the arms of a dog and the legs of a jackal. It feeds on human flesh and most small animals. Living in a small area there are very few, in fact there may be only one. It's a close relation to a werewolf, only it can't change into a human and when it's killed it doesn't turn into a human. It can run at speeds of up to 300 MPH.

	Bahamut - more often called as The Platinum Dragon. Also known as King Of All Good Dragons.
Dragon - mythical and magical creature usually represented as a huge, winged, fire-breathing reptile.
	Tiamat - a monstrous five-headed dragon
Western Dragon - large, scaly creature resembling a dinosaur or a large lizard. It usually has wings and can fly, often it will breathe fire.
	Cosmic Dragon - (Draco Mysticus) This Dragon is usually found in California. Distinguished with its tranquil look on it's face and astrological symbols on the wings and belly, it is usually found floating and meditating. When disturbed, it gets a highly insulted look on its face and leaves for quieter places. Disclaimer: Tongue-in-cheek description (and amusing!)
