Yokai - Other TransformationsThis is a featured page

These are Yokai that don't fit into any of the other classes. They include:-
  • Abura-sumashi - A smug potato-headed goblin-like creature, who drinks oil. It surprises people on the mountain pass, the spirit of a human who stole lamp oil in life.
  • Ami-kiri - A very strange creature described as a serpentine spirit with a segmented exoskeleton, two pincers and a bird-billed face. It floats through sliding doors and cuts mosquito nets and nets hung out to dry, nothing more, nothing less.
  • Ashi-magari - An apparition that appears at night at a person's feet. It is described as soft like a kitten or a ball of wool and eventually impedes the movement of the person it moves around the ankles of. Some people think this is not a separate entity at all but a Tanuki trick.
  • Betobeto-san - An apparition that only exists in the sounds of footsteps it makes. It will follow people on dark nights, haunting them with it's echoing steps. Should the pursued stop at the side of the trail they walk and say "Betobeto-san please go on ahead." then the footsteps will sound no more.
  • Kama-Itachi - Click for further information.
  • Kami-kiri - Another strange looking Yokai that may be closely related to the Ami-kiri. It cuts the hair off at the roots of people who are sleeping. If ever it attacks a person that is a warning that they intend to marry a supernatural creature in disguise.
