Helheim is what you're talking about she was the ruler of Helheim. Some shortened the name Helheim to Hel so the writer was right but it's rather mislead. Though hel's a person not a place Helheim is a place. Often times mistaken for a glacier in Greenland cause they did kind of name one that after they started naming those things. Long after the place was forgotten due to Catholicism and the early Christianity.
