Will'o'WispThis is a featured page

A debatable phenomenon. Some believe these strange lights are the glow of faeries, others say they are the lamps or torches carried by the fae. Although not a creature they do have their place in mythology. Humans who follow them can be lead to a faery gathering or even the faery realm if they manage to do so without getting lost; as the strange lights have a tendency to flicker and fade in and out of sight.
These lights have many different names as they part of cultures throughout europe from the UK to western Russia. They have been called:Faery lights, St. Elmo's Fire, Jack-o-Lantern, Bob-A-Longs, Jenny Burnt-Tail, Teine Sith, Huckpoten, Irrbloss, Eclaireux, Candelas and Ruskaly.

I noticed in the comment shown above, it saws that a will o wisp is the spirit of the dead which only usually includes humans but when I looked up will o wisps, the website said that will o wisps (in some legends) Can also be the spirit of an animal that takes revenge on the hunters that killed them by luring them into the woods where they then dissapear and leave the human for dead.

According to most legend I have heard Will O Wisps are the spirits of the dead that lead men to there deaths. They float and flicker in and out causing curious men of folly to become lost and eventually die. They also lead men to more hostile creatures such as succubus, demons, vampires, and werewolves.
