Rodan (Radon) is a fictional pterosaur-like kaiju featured in several Godzilla films. It had brown-red skin, with two horns at the back of its head, serrated spikes on its chest and was generally shown to be smaller than Godzilla. Its first appearance was as an antagonist, but the behemoth soon became an ally to the growing Gozilla horde. It fought with devastating sonic booms.

Originally there were two rodans. Both hatched from eggs buried in the mountainside. Miners had uncovered them and an ancient bug species called Meganulon before succumbing to the terrors. The monsters fed on the insects until they reached full size and maturity. They emerged to cause great destruction before one, and perhaps even two, died in the counter attack. If both perished, all future Rodan appearances are of their offspring unseen in the first movie. Rodan returns to do battle with Godzilla, only to be convinced by Mothra to help fight against Ghidorah. Thereafter, barring the odd alien mind-control, Rodan fights against threats to the Earth, even going so far as to sacrifice its life for Godzilla.

It shows resistance to radiation and is able to achieve supersonic flight.
