PerytonsThis is a featured page

Perytons are mythical stags. They have black antlers and horns, rows of sharp teeth, golden fur, and feathered wings and hindquarters. They varied in different colors: Black, Grey, Brown, Gold, White, and very rarely blue, green, scarlet red, and orange. Perytons make their homes in forests and areas where there are not many humans. They can be vicious because of their wild behavior but if you approach one with slow movement they won't see you as a threat. They cannot fly well but Perytons tend to skip off the ground when they fly. Dragons and griffins are their main predator and plants and vegetation is their food. Carrots are very favorable among their kind. Some even find pumpkins in nearby civilizations and tend to get into crates, They would smash the pumpkin and eat the insides. But Perytons are rare in heavily populated areas. Their appearances make them seem "mutant-like" to people, but to someone that understands mythical creatures are quite fascinated by the Peryton's appearance and would admire them greatly for their wild majestic beauty and passion.

The peryton also had one thing that set it apart - its shadow was that of a human. Some cultures had it as a stag-headed bird, while others had it as a winged stag. Sometimes it was carnivorous, sometimes not. But it always had that odd shadow.

I've heard they were carnivorous and liked the taste of human flesh?
