The Ancient Egyptian goddess Nut, whose name is also spelled Nuit, Newet, and Neuth, is the goddess of the sky. In almost every one of her depectionsdepictions she is arched across the sky, wearing a dress decorated with stars. Nut was the wife and sister of the Earth god Geb. To him she bore four children; Isis, Osiris, Set, and Nepthys. The Egyptians used to beleivebelieve that the goddess Nut would swallow the sun-god Ra at the end of each day and then would give birth to him the following morning. Nut was the goddess of the sky and all heavenly bodies, a symbol of rebirth and resurrection.
