Nut was the wife and sister of the Earth god Geb. To him she bore four children; Isis, Osiris, Set, and Nepthys. The Egyptians used to believe that the goddess Nut would swallow the sun-god Ra at the end of each day and then would give birth to him the following morning. Nut was the goddess of the sky and all heavenly bodies, a symbol of rebirth and resurrection.
