Medusa - Interesting TheoryThis is a featured page

I was reading an article about some elongated skulls that were discovered in a temple in my home country back in 1903. At first, my attention was focused on the article, but as I read some key words it got me thinking about Medusa and a POSSIBLE connection.

Most legends are based upon supposed eye-witness accounts and hearsay, is it not? Also most legends are translated into modern language from ancient text. Now what if there was a misinterpration along the lines?

The reason I say this is because of the article I read. Here is one quote that got me thinking:
"In this skull, the upper part, the cranium, was long and narrow - its maximum breath being less than 75 percent of the maximum length. This together with other elongated features, gave the skull a serpent-like appearance."

Upon reading this, I started to ask, what if it wasn't a head FULL of snakes, but a head LIKE a snake. If the skull would have given this impression it could easily have lead to a misconception.

The second quote that I read made me think it more: "Forgione's team of researchers even concluded that the shape of the skulls made it impossible for this person to walk - the only possible movement was a forced, probably very painful, slither."

Could it possibly be that there is an ACTUAL explanation to Medusa? i would like to keep looking into this more and maybe see if the story can in fact hold up.

Medusa was a young girl whos mother hated Athena so then Medusa hted her too but then who Mother owed the priestesses of Athena something so she offered Medusa as a slave.

Medusa Could'nt make bread or honey with her stubby fingers so they mde her a gardner but then a man came while she was outside his skin was pale & had black hair & black clothing the man then raped her & pashed her.

A storm broke & they went inside but then he raped her again & Athena saw this & made her hair to snales her gaze to stone & her face lilac purple. She then realised that it was Poseidon who had done this & he made her pregnate aswell!

Horrified of her appearence she ran to the other side of the earth & met 2 other Gorgons Stheno & Euryale who then called her sister.People came to there cave & were turned to stone.Pereus was challenged by his step father to fetch him the Gorgons head so he went out & in his dreams Athena gave him a Sheild & Sword he then woke up & went for the Gorgon he came to the cave to find her lying down about to give birth to Chrysaor when Pereus hacked her head off.

Her blood was like a lake & two figures sprang up in the blood. the first was a horse with wings it was Pegasus then the second figure came out it was Medusa's unborn son Chrysaor. Stheno & Euryae woke up & Perseus escaped on Pegasus & heard the horrific screams of the 2 other gorgons.Medusa was dead. I feel bad for Medusa she was RAPED! so I think Poseidon is to blame
Poseidon (Pose-si-don)
Medusa ( Meu-doo-sa
