hollywoods imagination knows no bounds. For instance from my bedroom i used to go on quests for the Giant Ape King Kong, or be scared of a small spider, thinking it was a hundred foot spider tarantula, or i would think i could build my own spaceship and travel to the planets or beyond, but i found out king kong wasn`t real(what a disappointment, hundred foot spiders would die(thanks to the internet, i could do research) and going to the stars wasn`t practical, (my allowance wasn`t capable of making such journeys). In all probability things that could hurt us was just our imaginations
To bad i would have liked to have been friends with KONG!!! |

There's a creature I was always scared of as a kid (and admittedly a bit so today), that for the life of me, I can't remember what it's called or where I heard about. I believe it's fictional (as in from a modern-ish book, not from classical mythology or a folk tale). I think it might have been in an Edward Gorey story, since my dad always had a huge Edward Gorey collection and I was fascinated by the pictures and stories, but I was only allowed to read a couple "age appropriate ones" (but of course I always sneaked a peek at the books anyway).
But, to get to the point: The creature in question is a small shape-shifting monster (demon?) who lives in the woods, always near to, but never on, the walking path. It wails and screams like a small child to try and lure people off the path. No matter how long you've been walking the noise (and creature) is always near, so long as you are still in the woods. If someone's curious or worried and decides to take a look, the moment their foot is off the path they'll find a bundle, like a baby wrapped in a blanket. If they leave the bundle and go back onto the path, nothing will happen, but the crying will continue. If they pick up the bundle, they will see something horrific inside, which will start giggling like a baby and then kill, eat, and or torture their miserable souls for all eternity. In the story I read, I believe there was a very large scorpion inside the blanket which disemboweled the person who found it, but I believe the book also mentioned the creature being a shape-shifter, as well as the fate the person suffered varying. A very strange, scary monster for sure. Any possible leads on what this is/ what it's from?

Feel free to ask questions i got nothing else better to do. And the ones that would jump on this like bee's to honey demanding prof don't waste the time energy and or effort to ask cause I'm not sharing any. Just stating what I know.

I don't know if this is where this belongs, but I have great news: I have confirmed my studies in fictional creatures, and I have evaluated the evidence: Werewolfs do exist. Too many people from the past have believed in them, and it does sound pretty logical for there to be a cross between a human and a wolf. I have started my stakeout to begin looking for this werewolf creature.

The Groblings are stubby, dwarf-like demons with torn flesh, sharp teeth, and deadly claws. They run out of the woods when children get too close. They tell them to 'Come play Hide-and-Seek' with them. The kids run into the woods, and are butchered by The Groblings. They hang their skins from the trees and make tents out of them. The believed origin of The Groblings is a group of children who were killed by bullies, and now they won't stop until they kill every child in the world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Beginning of Story~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Michael, go play with your friends!" my mom yells. "Mom! My friends want to play Hide-and-Seek! I don't play that!" I yell back "Well then play something else, but go outside." I knew the argument was over. I walk outside, and my 3 friends Damian, Nathan, and John, were waiting outside for me. "Hey Michael, wanna go play Hide-and-Seek?" asked John, who was only a year younger than me. "Yeah! Let's play that!" shouted Damian, excitedly. "Ugh. Fine" I said. So we walked out to the outside of the woods, where Damian started to count to 10. I ran behind a rock. Before he could finish, a group of 6 kids walks out of the woods.* *Only adults can see the torn flesh and claws and teeth. "Who are you?" Nate asks, walking out from a bush. "Doesn't matter! Come play Hide-and-Seek at our hideout in the woods?" the tallest one asks. "Sure, why not?" I say. We walk out into the woods, when we get a strange feeling of comfort. Suddenly, one of the kids jumps on my back. I feel a sharp pain in my neck. I want to scream, but I'm silenced by some sort of magic. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~To Be Continued~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
I really hope that was a joke. Someone believing that werewolves exist, or existed at one stage? It's pretty obvious why the werewolf legends came in to being and it needs no further explanation.
There is, in fact, a creature (if you care to call them that) like the headless horseman. It is a durahan. They live in Ireland, and they drive a coach pulled by headless horses. They carry their heads under their arms and tend to hit people with blood. A shadow-ish smokey substance seeps from their bodies, mainly the neck where they head should be.
There is an interesting creature on a ps3 game me and my gf play. The game is called Legendary and they have a creature called a Nari. They claim that is of Slavic and Bulgarian Mythology, although I have never heard of it myself and I am big on mythology. It reminds me of a pixie or sprite....but is portrayed as as violent and demon creature that associates with the souls of dead children. It is known to be able to go invisible, and do a few other nifty tricks. So is this really a fictional creature, and able to be added to this list? Or is it an actually Mythological Creature and I have just never heard of it before?
