In some mythologies it is conciderd a curse and it is supposed to bring illness and or death to most or all of your family and in the same place, if you find the banshees lair and she finds you there, it is automatic death so that you do not expose her hiding place.

Another being, the bean-nighe (washing woman). In this form, she is apparently seen washing the bloodstains out of the fated person clothes.
Sounds awfully like the Morrigan. |

I was inclined to join the page just to edit this here, but seriously, you need to streamline the joining process - joining only by Facebook account etc. just serves to keep people away.
Anyway, a few corrections if someone wants to edit this posting: There is no dependable source for the piece about "fallen angels". "Bean-nighe" is not entirely interchangable with Bean-sidhe, which should be made clearer. Also Bean-sidhe are mostly described as old crones, very rarely as young maidens but never as middle aged matrons. The author or his sources most likely mix up various descriptions of the fates or slavic traditions of the "hag, mother and maiden" that became intermingled with more western traditions in the last decades. Also to answer one question posted prior: The one whose death is allegedly announced by the Bean-sidhe wail does NOT hear it, only members of his family. Thus the wail itself was initially not considered to be deadly, although there are some more "folksy" interpretations that allege it can kill or drive one insane. Frankly this does not really fit the internal logic of the initial myth imo. |

A banshee scream, when heard is a warning of death soon to come by the one who heard her scream.
